STRENGTH OF MEMBERSHIP
STRENGTH OF MEMBERSHIP
Wyoming Outdoorsmen is a grass roots, volunteer–based non–profit organization. WyO’s strength and ability to influence the preservation of Wyoming’s outdoor opportunities is powered by its membership and the shared voice of our members. Our members are conservationists, businessmen & women, ranchers and avid outdoor enthusiasts who are also devoted residents of the great state of Wyoming.
Wyoming Outdoorsmen hosts and conducts a variety of fundraising events annually. WyO events include things like the increasingly popular annual WyO Banquet with live & silent auctions attended by more than 600 members, shooting and fishing tournaments, mentored youth hunts, hunter education and safety programs, Spring & Fall predator bounty programs, and WyO’s college scholarship program. Scholarships are open to high school seniors, home schooled and continuing education students that apply. Students submitting an application to WyO must be a member of Wyoming Outdoorsmen.
Membership, donation and ticket dollars raised for events represent a majority of WyO’s most important sources of revenue. Since event dollars are typically unrestricted, WyO is able to apply these funds towards our highest mission priorities, youth programs and when possible to leverage additional funding from other sources.
YOUR membership, YOUR donation and YOUR willingness volunteer and get involved are crucially important and that which fuels the fire making our work and the success of YOUR Mission to preserve the future of Wyoming’s great outdoors possible.

STATEMENT on FIREARMS
The Wyoming Outdoorsmen Organization / WyO was founded by hunter-conservationists, and conservation remains our mission. WyO is first and foremost an organization dedicated to conserving our western outdoor sportman’s heritage and the majority of our members Hunt, Fish and Trap. WyO vigorously supports the right to bear arms and believes that with that constitutional and inalienable right comes the responsibility to use and educate our youth on the use of firearms lawfully and safely. The ownership and use of fire arms is intertwined with wildlife management and conservation in Wyoming, and the WyO organization strongly supports hunting. Without hunters, fishermen, trappers, recreational shooters and their associated financial contributions through licenses, tags and taxes on sporting equipment, funding for conservation would be decimated. We will continue to hold ourselves to the highest standards of gun safety, hunting ethics, and responsible firearms ownership and use.

Our Founding
The Wyoming Outdoorsmen Organization was founded in 2012 by eight native Cody residents with strong allegiances to Wyoming. Three of the original eight–member Board of Directors that founded Wyoming Outdoorsmen included Joe Tilden, retired Park County Commissioner serving for 12 years, and Grant & Janet Stambaugh, 5th–generation Cody natives, outfitters and ranch managers for the Southfork’s Majo Ranch and Meeteeste’s Wood River Ranch. Wyoming Outdoorsmen’s founding started as a splinter group breaking away from a similar organization that supported programs in other states, to more effectively put the raised dollars “back on the ground” in Wyoming and not towards paid administrators. The new mission being to apply the organization’s talents and hard–earned dollars raised towards wildlife habitat and conservation programs specific to the state of Wyoming, and to encourage youth and family involvement in our great Wyoming hunting, fishing and trapping heritage.
