The WyO Whitetail Doe Hunt Program is a Mentored program that teaches youth (that will reach the age of 12 by Dec 31, 2026), adult women and families Big Game Hunting Skills and then put these skills to use on a mentored whitetail doe hunt on a private ranch in Park County in September/October of 2026. This program seeks out applicants that have an interest in hunting but have little to no experience.
Youth are required to apply listing either a parent or guardian who will accompany the youth through-out the program at all events. The parent or guardian are not required to participate as a hunter. For parent/child applicant teams, an application will need to be completed for each individual. In addition, the application form asks each applicant permission to have their image included in pictures of program activities. This is an important promotional item that is used to show those that help fund this program.
Applications are due by May 5th, 2026. Forms can be found by clicking here.
The program will run from June 2026 thru September/October 2026 and will consist of these three parts:
- A Range Day to be held in June 2026 at the Meeteetse rifle range where participants will learn how to use firearms safely and accurately.
- A Simulated Hunt that will be held in August 2026 on state land off of the Burlington Road west of HWY 120. Participants will get experience in the field and learn the basics of hunting,
- A whitetail doe hunt on a private ranch on a September/October date that works for both the hunter and his/her mentor
The only cost to the participants is that you will need to apply for and purchase a whitetail doe deer license and a Wyoming Conservation Stamp and to provide your own transportation to the Range Day, the Simulated Hunt and to the ranch for your hunt day. For Wyoming Residents who have maintained continuous residency for the past 365 consecutive days the combined cost of these two items will be $43.50. For non-residents the combined cost will be $55.50.
The Wyoming Whitetail Doe Hunt Program is a WY Hunt Fish Event and is a collaboration between Wyoming Outdoorsmen, The Big Horn Basin Chapter of the First Hunt Foundation and the Wyoming Game and Fish Department.
